Paryushan and Daslaxan 2018

JSMW presents Paryushan and Daslaxan Parva Mahotsav

Jain Society of Metropolitan Washington is pleased to announce the 2018 Paryushan and Daslaxan Parva Mahotsav to be held at the Jain Center. During the Parva, the JSMW Members will be able to participate in various religious programs.  Please read the three sections below to familiarize yourself with various activities during the Parva.

Paryushan Parva Details

We are pleased to announce that Lalitbhai Dhami has kindly accepted to grace the Paryushan Parva celebration this year at our Jain Center.  The programs during the Parva will be held at the Jain Center except for the Swapna Ceremony and Samvatsari Pratikraman.  We will serve lunch and dinner at the temple. If you wish to participate, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance, by adding your name to the spreadsheet at the temple.

Paryushan Sponsorship

Paryushan Swami Vatsalya sponsorship at the temple is $101 per day.  You can sponsor any number of days as you wish.  If you wish to sponsor a day, you can either write your name for the day on the spreadsheet at the temple or email your name with the donation and days to events@jainsocietydc.org.

Samooh Parna

Parna for tapasvis will be held at the Jain Center on Friday, Sept 15th morning starting at 8:30 a.m.  Various opportunities to sponsor the parna and other activities are available. If you wish to be a sponsor, please
send us an email at Events@JainSocietyDC.org.

 

Swapna Ceremony Details

This year, the Swapna Ceremony will be celebrated at Eleanor Roosevelt High School.

  • Date and Time: Saturday, Sept 8th, 2018, 1:00 pm, lunch at 11:45 am*
  • Venue: Eleanor Roosevelt High School, 7601 Hanover Parkway Greenbelt, MD 20770
  • RSVP: Please RSVP latest by Sept 5th.
*Considering challenges in getting school this year, we have to celebrate Swapana Ceremony on a chaudas, hence JSMW has arranged for lunch and dinner both.
Detailed timeline: 
  • Lunch: 11:45 am – 12:45 pm.
  • Swapna Ceremony Program: 1:00 pm – 5:45 pm
  • Dinner: 5:45 pm.
  • Pratikraman at school: 6:45 pm.

We request to all of you to please come on time.  During the Swapna Ceremony, the labharthi members will have the honor of carrying each Swapna to the beats of drums and music.

Daslaxan Parva Details

Daslaxan Parva will be celebrated this year from September 14th to September 24th. As it has become customary since last few years, a Mandal Vidhan Puja will be organized on the weekend days of September 22nd and 23rd. Although we do not have a guest speaker, we will play Pravachan on 10 Dharm by Dr. Sanjeev Godha.

Daslaxan Parva Schedule

  • Saturday, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Sept. 16th: Abhishek, Puja starting at 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Pravachan 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM. Followed by lunch (Saturdaypravachan will be in upstairs hall)
  • Monday, Sept 17th – Friday, Sept 21st: Aarti at 7:30 PM. Pravachan from 8 to 9 PM
  • Saturday, Sept 22nd – Sunday, Sept 23rd: Chosath (64) Riddhi Mandal Vidhan Puja starting from 9:00 AM to Noon. Followed by Pravachan and then Lunch
  • Monday, Sept. 24th: Daslaxan Pooja starting at 930am onwards
  • Monday, Sept. 24th: Pratikraman starting at 5:00 PM. Followed by Aarti
